December 14/09 meeting highlight: 8 SOAP members and Guest attended this meeting Special Guest Leon Jansen talked and demonstrated 2 miniature working engine. Both engine are 4 cycle and it was fascinating to observe all the details and of course there were miniature spark plugs all made by Leon. Leon explained the cost of spark plugs at $35.00 each convinced him to make them himself. Leon originally worked at miniature steam engine but he wanted to tackle bigger challenge like 4 cycle engine. Draw Prize: No Draw prize available.
November 9/09 meeting highlight: 6 SOAP members attended this meeting David Estabrooks hosted the meeting. David demonstrated and explained new features of IV 2010 such as the "Ribbon" and capabilities of sketch features. While in the explaining the IV sketch features "Blocks" were created and motion control of the blocks while sketching David also explained interactive of solids within one part detailing. September 14/09 meeting highlight: 6 SOAP members attended this meeting David Estabrooks hosted the meeting. David mention the Company he is employed with switched over to Inventor 2010. David talked about IV 2010 Vault of which are 3 of them now and explained the function of each. IV 2010 "Ribbon" and its function were also discussed. We were able to listen to IV 2010 Video demonstration, other available IV help possibilities and what is new in IV 2010. We also talked/explained about shrink wrapping function. Concern and recommendation by David is why are not the Information of Property description of a Part (IPT) or Assembly (IAM) automatically transferred to the Drawing (IDW) file in its Property description field? June 08/09 meeting highlight: 8 SOAP members attended this meeting David Estabrooks hosted the meeting. At the beginning we talked about the benefit and use of "Skype" and "Go To Meeting". A member explained about a problem he experience while using Inventor. It appears the problem related to editing and creating a new part in Assembly mode. David demonstrated how to create a new part (IPT) in Assembly mode. Other demonstration of creating new Material specification and changing parts to the new Material. Interest by one member was how to create a Wood Material. We also had a demonstration of Title Block creation and editing, drawing notes, Revision indicator. Talked about Inventor Library. May 11/09 meeting highlight: 8 SOAP members attended this meeting David Estabrooks hosted the meeting. At the beginning we talked about a Server being used, for example one Company with 50 employees used 26 server, way too many was everyone thinking. We could not figure out why so many server. Overall David demonstrated 2010 Inventor new features. David made particular mention of the new ribbon bar. It was also mentioned that Autodesk now provides their program as downloaded able version from the Internet. Also these program are available in DVD-CD format. March 09/09 meeting highlight: 7 SOAP members attended this meeting David Estabrooks hosted the meeting and demonstrated the procedure and versatility of Inventor Frame Generator. David also showed a film clip of Inventor API (VBA) of which we will have future discussion and demonstration. February 09/09 meeting highlight: 7 SOAP members and 1 Guest attended this meeting David Estabrooks hosted the meeting, we had a discussion about Autodesk Architectural Desktop and Revit of their ability to design and think "Green" gearing toward reducing energy consumption and other savings. David explained how to use and usefulness of Inventor derived parts, how it affect as a saved parts within Autodesk Vault. We had a discussion about Autodesk Vault insofar that revised saved files should be considered as another version and not as a revision. David outlined function which can be performed within an Assembly Inventor file. We also talked about the involvement and process to manufacture mass produced parts, eg: Filling Bottles, Light Bulbs etc From a SOAP member we were able to view and evaluate prototypes created in a Solid Printer process. January 12/09 meeting highlight: 6 SOAP members attended this meeting Wolfe Derle performed a sheet metal demonstration. Fred Beemer loaned SOAP his Notebook but we could not utilize SOAP own projector as no signal transmission was possible. We need a new Projector. No Draw Prize was performed. |
