9 SOAP members attended this meeting

Wolfe showed with Real Player 3 difference Inventor Tutorial outlining surface modeling..

David talked about Inventor subroutine useful for printing and other function, these routine are advertised from Kent Keller at C. Bliss website.

Also mention was made about Library parts available also a C. Bliss website.

David demonstrated creation of Bill of Material with Inventor 2010.

A Sprocket Chain assembly created as a single part was demonstrated (interesting) by David.

We all enjoyed the Christmas Cake.

November 08/10 meeting highlight:

6 SOAP members and 1 Guest attended this meeting

David demonstrated linking Inventor parts to spreadsheet.

We experienced problem with linking the spreadsheet but had no problem to embed the data to the part.

Linking a spreadsheet allows to use the spreadsheet data else where, embed the data is only good for the one part.

Other linking of parts data is to export data from the part.

Also demonstrated tabulated Inventor drawing.

We continue our discussion and demonstration of Inventor Sheet Metal.

With Inventor 2010 David explained first the Sheet Metal setup option.

Thereafter various style of Sheet Metal Lofting with resulting of Flat layout were demonstrated.

The various style of "RIP" function, required for flat layout of a fully enclosed object, was explained and demonstrated.

"Rolled Contour" function were demonstrated.

We had a demonstration of a hemmed rolled object, but question the flat layout result.

David also demonstrated utilizing AutoCAD data in Inventor Sheet Metal.

Overall suggestion: Set up all your most used Sheet Metal Gauges etc in your Sheet Metal Template.

David also talked about the benefit of using Vault in Inventor, it is also suitable for one man operation

Using UCS (User Coordinate System) David demonstrated how to create an angular Bracket with various emboss and cut out.

We had a discussion about Sheet Metal parts, to be continued at the October meeting.

BIM can be used to demonstrate the entire building life cycle, including the processes of construction and facility operation.

Paul Harrison of IMAGINiT showed and demonstrated new features of Inventor 2011 such as:

Improved Sketching, Direct manipulation Part Modeling, Assembly command, Inventor Fusion, Inventor iLogic, iCopy,

Alias Design for Inventor, Environmental display, Frame Generator, Dynamic Simulation, DWG Block Browser, Hatch Pattern,

Multi View creation, Chain Dimensioning, Architectural View Creation, 3D Printing.

Also visit this WEBSITE1 and WEBSITE2  for more detailed Information.

We also had a discussion about the hardware differences of a 32 and 64 bit operation system.

Almost forgot: Bob MacGillivray distributed to all attended an IMAGINiT Mouse Pad and IMAGINiT Calendar

March 08/10 meeting highlight:

6 SOAP members attended this meeting

David showed Video 20 Inventor Tips and Tricks in 20 minutes on our new Digital Projector EPSON EX 71.

It was a very informative presentation and various question were raised as some of the tips were not explained very well.

We recreated the tip of part intersect to extrude the intersect part.

Utilizing CTRL key to disable constraint functions.

Creating Assembly with multiple part selection.

Some of these tips were a reminder to us as these are well known tips.

We also discussed Standard Parts Library and Standard Font Size.

It was agreed Font sizes and Template will be more discussed in details on our next meeting.

David was unable to show a 20 minutes Inventor Tips Trick movie due to lack of Real Player program which is now installed on the Laptop.

First we decided a digital projector is to be purchased preferable with 1280 X 800 resolution.

It was unknown to most of us that Inventor have spelling capabilities, this feature needs to be installed separately and is available from your Inventor Autodesk DVD.

Additionally

Constraints Tolerances were also mentioned. Had a brief discussion about dimension style used in IDW files.

Had a discussion about Battery life of Laptops, type of Video cards used in Laptops and desktop computers,

with the use of ActiveX in Inventor open GL is no longer a requirements in video cards.
