December 12/11 meeting highlight: 9 SOAP members attended this meeting David demonstrated and talked Curtain Wall utilizing Inventor Frame Generator function. Curtain Walls are not always with Glass cladding, other material is used as well. Curved Curtain walls are more challenging to design. David employer used primarily Inventor Fame Generator to design Curtain Walls. David suggested to create a "Hybrid" type Curtain Wall, this version would need constraining its components where as Frame Generated Curtain Walls Components are not constrained. Talked about Vault, David recommend Vault also for Single user but advised to have it set up by an experienced AutoDesk reseller. David demonstrated a Custom profile to be used within Frame Generator application. Once the profile is designed David demonstrated the procedure to make this profile useful for Frame Generator. November 14/11 meeting highlight: 10 SOAP members & 1 Guest attended this meeting David demonstrated Curtain Wall utilizing Inventor Frame Generator function. Talked about new command format within Inventor 2012 Explained the components within the browser of Frame Generated Components. David talked about a Job which do not allow constraining to each other, instead to an established Origin Point. With the Frame Generator David demonstrated corner correction as miter, cut to frame size with allowed welding gap We had discussion of B of M created with Frame Generator which need correction a same part will have difference numbers. October 11/11 meeting highlight: 9 SOAP members attended this meeting David talked about using SolidWorks 2009 on his current employment. Overall David mention SolidWorks requires more clicks compared to Inventor 2008/2010 to do the same task. SolidWorks have some function which Inventor is lacking, but overall Inventor operates more smoothly and easier to use. David intended to demonstrate identical item in SolidWorks and Inventor. While demonstrating SolidWorks we became aware of a noticeable delay when using dimensioning. SolidWorks converts all dimension formulas to default values, Inventor retains dimension formulas. David showed us SolidWorks Extrusion, Revolve, Holes etc. Part in SolidWorks was not completed, will complete it at the November meeting and demonstrate the same item in Inventor. June 13/11 meeting highlight: 5 SOAP members attended this meeting David was not available to host this meeting, Wolfe outlined of an additional bill of $67.80 to be paid to Execulink which covers soapweb.ca hosting for one year. April 11/11 meeting highlight: 8 SOAP members attended this meeting David demonstrated creation of Inventor I Part and I Assembly. A lot of information can be established, extracted, manipulated within Inventor I Part and Assembly. It is difficult to write in details about it, it would be best if you would have been at the meeting to understand and digest it David also demonstrated Inventor Representation utilizing the movements of Cylinder Rods. February 14/11 meeting highlight: 9 SOAP members attended this meeting David continued with VBA for Inventor. Examples and instruction were passed on by David for changing the data of Inventor part and drawing property. Some property valu were not suitable for changing with VBA code such as creation date. David demonstrated and explained with a VBA file the structure of VBA programming and ensure the requested function are to be defined at the beginning of the programm. David gave us examples of mass changing of Part Numbers, Project Orders etc within IV parts and drawings. We had discussion about IV Library and user own Library. January 10/11 Meeting highligth 9 SOAP members attended this meeting David handed out API VBA Code samples outlining how to access Inventor Property codes. From this hand out David demonstrated with VBA code typed at the meeting to change the value of the Inventor Part Number Property It was noted that the API code change with every Inventor Release, which may require to update your VBA code.
